The Book

Your Title Goes Here

A work of [genre / nonfiction / memoir] that takes readers through [core subject or journey]. Written with honesty and precision, it asks the questions most writers skirt and answers them on the page. Every chapter earns its place.

Publishing independently gives this book something a traditional timeline rarely allows: the space to get it right. The layout, the typography, the cover, the reading experience. All of it handled with the same care as the writing itself.

About this site

Built the same way the book was.

This site is a clean, typography-first author home. Every layout decision serves the reader, not the algorithm. Three things had to be right from the start.

Detailed view of font styles printed on paper
01 · Typography

Type that earns the reading.

Font size hierarchy, line length, spacing, and weight all calibrated so the page feels quiet and the words land. A serif headline paired with a clean body face. Nothing decorative that does not pull its weight.

02 · Layout balance

Images and text that hold their weight.

Every photo placed with intention. Aspect ratios consistent, focal points preserved, no orphaned images or lopsided columns. The layout grid is the invisible structure that makes reading feel effortless.

03 · Buy button

A purchase path that works on launch day.

The buy button is verified, tested, and wired to the correct retailer or self-hosted checkout before launch. No dead links, no broken redirects, no "coming soon" placeholder on the day readers arrive ready to buy.

Why it matters

One site. One book. Zero compromises.

Self-publishing is a full-stack creative decision. The writing is done. The site has to hold up its end of that deal.

Design follows the writing. This is not a template slapped over a Squarespace block. It is a considered author site where the typography scale, image placement, and page hierarchy all serve the same goal: get the reader to the book and trust what they find when they arrive.

How the rebalance works

From rough layout to launch-ready, in four steps.

A focused Squarespace rebalance with a defined scope. No open-ended retainer. Work starts on day one and ships before your launch window.

  1. Step 01

    Site audit

A full read-through of every page: font sizes, spacing, image placement, column widths, and mobile rendering. A prioritized list of fixes comes back within 24 hours.

  2. Step 02

    Typography pass

Headline hierarchy locked in. Body size set for reading comfort. Line length capped. Weights and spacing calibrated so the page breathes without feeling empty.

  3. Step 03

    Image and layout balance

Every photo sized, cropped, and placed consistently. Grid alignment corrected. No image sits in the wrong slot or at the wrong ratio. Placeholder images swapped for real ones as they arrive.

  4. Step 04

    Buy button verification

The purchase path is traced end-to-end: button placement, link target, checkout flow, mobile tap targets. Active for launch, with a notification flow set up if the book is not yet available.
